Los Angeles Performance Practice is excited to welcome Samuel Vasquez (he/him) as our Interim General Manager!
Samuel has served as a dedicated fundraiser and arts advocate at leading Los Angeles institutions for over a decade. Following his experience as co-founder of the collective-run performance art space eighteen-thirty, Samuel joined The Museum of Contemporary Art’s (MOCA) fundraising department. This was followed by a tenure in Advancement at the Hammer Museum during the launch of Made in L.A. and Free Admission.
He oversaw the opening of the Institute of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (ICA LA), formerly the Santa Monica Museum of Art and introduced new approaches to fundraising centered around community building, social inclusion, and mission-driven programming.
Most recently, he served as Deputy Director, Advancement at MOCA and is currently working on opening The Performance Art Museum in Los Angeles. Samuel received his B.A. in Political Science from UCLA.
As Interim General Manager, Samuel will support L.A. Performance Practice’s upcoming leadership changes as announced earlier this year. He will be managing daily operations of the company in addition to providing support to our programming, development, and marketing staff.
From Samuel, “I look forward to supporting L.A. Performance Practice and their mission to uplift contemporary performance in Los Angeles and beyond. As L.A. Performance Practice is about to celebrate over a decade of programming, now more than ever, it is an exciting time to be a part of the team!”
