R+D COHORT ANNOUNCED!
LAPP is so excited to welcome five new performance works to this year’s R+D program. R+D provides early project support and specially-tailored resources to projects in their earliest stages of development. Congratulations to R+D artists San Cha, Wesleigh Gates, and Four Larks, and R+D for Parents/Guardians artists Reginald Edmund and Maya Gurantz. We are so looking forward to seeing what these creators explore—read their bios on the LAPP blog, and keep an eye out for their individual blog interviews!
R+D IS HERE FOR 2024
Los Angeles Performance Practice is excited to announce the next round of RESEARCH + DEVELOPMENT (R+D). We have two offerings under this program: R+D and R+D: For Parents/Guardians. Both support the creation of new work by Los Angeles-based performance makers in the early stages of a project’s process. Through R+D, we aim to provide seed support to artists who are committed to live performance and looking to develop their work locally. Our mission continues to be anchored by a devotion to the production and presentation of contemporary performance by artists whose work advances and challenges multi-disciplinary artistic practices.

Information Session
We held an information session on Monday, April 29, 2024 to review the RESEARCH + DEVELOPMENT program, timeline, and process for submitting an interest form. Here is the video from that session:

Catalyst Gatherings
All R+D participants will have the option to participate in a Catalyst Group with the other artists if they are so inclined. Functioning as a mini-cohort, the artists will be able to support one another, exchange ideas and resources, and be in active conversation with LAPP as well as other artists participating in LAPP’s additional programs. The artists have the freedom to make as much (or as little) use of the Catalyst Group as they like. There will be one kick-off event in August and a culminating event in late October.
