Tiffany Lytle

QNOUM KAUN KHMER (I AM A CAMBODIAN CHILD)

October 20-21, 2018 at Bootleg Theater

This year’s Works-in-Progress Series is presented in association with Center Theatre Group, made possible by a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. Special thanks to Diane Rodriguez.

An exploration of refugee experience and the Cambodian diaspora through music and movement. Lytle’s music recalls displacement and honors refugee resilience, reimagining pop music as an expression of displacement that defines the state of living for many around the world today.

TIFFANY LYTLE is trained in Cambodian dance. As a soloist for KPA Fusion Dance Repertoire, she trained in various dance genres including lyrical and African fusion. Lytle is an alumnus of UCLA’s Asian American Studies M.A. program, and is currently a Ph.D. student (UCSB Theater/Dance). Elements of Cambodian performance are featured on her EP “Cambodian Child,” exploring identity and war.

LMSP BURNS writes on the racial politics of performance and race. Burns teaches in the Asian American Studies Department at UCLA and has collaborated as a dramaturg with artists such as David Roussève, R. Zamora Linmark, and TeAda Productions
