I’M VERY INTO YOU

October 13-14, 16, 18, 21, 2018 at Think Tank Gallery

“Sara Lyons’s epistolary play, based on the published 1995 emails of the late Kathy Acker, is worth keeping an eye out for.” —American Theatre

In 1995, the late, great feminist author Kathy Acker powered up her dial-up modem and launched a heady, sexy email correspondence with media theorist McKenzie “Ken” Wark, following a steamy encounter. Their queer desire charged the air between San Francisco and Sydney with radical expressions of gender, politics, pleasure and power at the dawn of the internet age.

Director Sara Lyons gathers a local cast of feminist, queer and non-binary underground artists who embody Kathy and Ken from points across a wide gender spectrum. Their feverish digital exchange is interspersed with the ensemble’s own stories of gender slippage and online intimacy, examining how our connections have evolved over the last two decades—through the internet and through expanding queer expression.
