LAX Festival, 5th Ed. is Announced :: October 5–15 2017

LAX Festival, 5th Ed. is Announced :: October 5–15 2017

Announcements

“This isn’t work for the faint of heart, but it’s vital.” —Anthony Byrnes, KCRW

// The 5th Ed. of the LAX Festival Features 12 projects, 5 venues and more than 40 performances and events //

Tickets are on sale. The press has been alerted. It couldn’t be more official… The full lineup for the Los Angeles Exchange [LAX] Festival, 5th Ed. is here: performancepractice.la/festival/

October 5–15, 2017, the LAX Festival offers adventurous audiences a rich encounter with a new generation of contemporary performance makers. We’ve got world and U.S. premieres, alongside previews of new works in development, conversations and late night parties. It’s a 10-day immersion that features uncategorizable performances by Los Angeles-based artists—and starting in 2017, an exchange platform with a different city for each edition.

This year, the LAX/MEX platform highlights current artistic practice in Mexico City. Festival events connect audiences, curators and institutions through performances, dialogues and artist-to-artist interaction that encourage reciprocal inquiry. It’s a model for the future that spawned our ever-so-subtle name change (perhaps fans of Hocus Focus already spotted it?).

Launched as the Live Arts Exchange, we’ve hit a milestone without even seeing it coming: It’s our 5th anniversary! So we got 5 different venues to honor it—The Theatre at Ace Hotel, Los Angeles Theatre Center, Bootleg Theater, Automata and the Bob Baker Marionette Theater.

And firstly, we send a big shout out to our Kickstarter supporters, who got the ball rolling and got us to our goal!

Guess what? Festival passes are a crazy-good deal, and start at only $60. Get a pass now, and clear your calendar!
