LAPP is excited to announce a paid internship in Producing + Advancement, through the Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture Arts Internship Program, running from June to December 2024. If you (or someone you know) is passionate about the arts and is a current undergraduate student or graduating in spring 2024, we want to hear from you!

DESCRIPTION

The Producing + Advancement Intern will work closely with our artistic, programming and development staff, contributing towards programming and development efforts. They will make meaningful contributions toward our individual giving, grant writing, and communications, supporting our artist-driven programs and projects. The intern will work approximately 20 hours a week, June through December. 

QUALIFICATIONS

Competitive candidates for our Producing + Advancement Internship will demonstrate:  
– Passion for supporting contemporary dance, music, and/or experimental theater with working knowledge or interest in L.A.-based artists. 
– An interest in producing new work and/or working with a multidisciplinary presenter. 
– Knowledge of contemporary performance aesthetics, history, and forms. 
– Experience and/or strong interest in fundraising, development, and/or marketing for the arts. 
– Interest in writing for or about performance.
– Proficiency in Google Office Suite (Gmail, Sheets, Drive, Slides, Calendar). 
– Proficiency in MS Office. 
– Excellent time management skills; ability to prioritize work. 
– Attention to detail; problem-solving skills. 
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
– Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask. 
– Positive attitude. 
– Interest in graphic design and/or video editing is a plus, such as experience with Canva or Adobe Suite.

BACKGROUND

Los Angeles Performance Practice is devoted to the production and presentation of contemporary performance by artists whose work advances multi-disciplinary practices. We support a diverse constellation of artists and audiences through the creation and presentation of groundbreaking experiences with innovative approaches to collaboration, technology and social engagement. 

We offer (1) artist programs including an array of professional development workshops, (2) our LAX Festival of contemporary dance, theater and music, (3) touring projects in which creative producers work closely with artists to develop new work, and (4) special initiatives, which advocate for local systems that innovate national outcomes.  We carefully consider issues of diversity, equity, and representation in hiring. Our current staff is 40% BIPOC and 60% nonbinary. Our board is currently 40% BIPOC. It is critically important to us that our team reflects the diverse community we serve.
