A 2 Session Workshop for Artists
Join us for two Saturday sessions with an optional follow-up Office Hour, led by Katy Hilton, Director of Development & Communications, Native Arts and Cultures Foundation and Patricia Garza, Los Angeles Performance Practice’s Director of Programs. Our workshop is designed to provide you with an accessible, artist-centered strategy for grant writing – including understanding how to find opportunities and put together all parts of an application.
Session 1 // June 3, 2023 from 10am-12pm – Finding Grants for Artists + Decoding Applications – learn about the types of grant funding available to individual artists, how to find the opportunities that align with your artmaking, and strategies for writing about yourself and your work.
Session 2 // June 10, 2023 10am-12pm – Creating Your Budget – review budget considerations for your work, discuss equitable pay standards for artists, and leave with a project budget template for future proposal use.
Session 3 (Optional) // June 21, 2023 6pm-7pm – Office Hour – An optional hour to debrief and digest the information shared in the previous two sessions especially focusing on any budget follow-up questions.
We highly encourage you to attend all the sessions. Katy will be available for 20 minutes before the second session to answer any one-on-one questions. Participants are encouraged to come prepared with an active project idea, along with a prospective source of support.
